The play selection committee for Gratiot County Players invites qualified directors to submit proposals for the 2026-2027 season.
Goals for 2026-2027 include season that:
-
provides varied opportunities for actors of all ages of actors
-
assists GCP with its financial goals related to building repairs, technical upgrades, and replenishing sinking funds for sustainability
-
widely known shows
-
shows that have not been produced by GCP recently.
-
Realistic tech, set, and costume needs for our space and volunteer base.
-
The board is also committed to helping support directors willing to take on well known productions if they are less familiar with volunteers who are able to fill production roles.
To be a qualified director for Gratiot County Players, you must have been an assistant director under an experienced Gratiot County Players director. This qualification can be waived if a person has a history of directing in other locations and is willing to be trained on specifics of producing a show with Gratiot County Players.
Show proposals should include the following:
-
Director name / contact (and information about qualification to be a director if you have not directed at GCP before)
-
Show title
-
Owner of the theatrical rights (preferably a link provided to the show)
-
Casting information (number, ages), and a brief synopsis of the show- or include a link with that information
-
Basic set, costume, special tech requirements
-
Proposed dates and alternative timeframes within the season that you are able and willing to direct, and any time frames you cant direct
-
Any special considerations, potential barriers, why you think this show is a great fit, or other information you believe is important
Send proposals to Julie Frick julie_frick@yahoo.com not later than October 31, 2025.
If you submitted last year and want your show proposal reconsidered this year, send Julie an email so she can pull the prior proposal; a new proposal isn’t necessary.
The play selection committee is meeting the first week of November and the recommendation for the season will be submitted to the Board for consideration at their November meeting.
To assist you with ideas/categories for the show that offer varied experiences for actors and audiences, the committee has compiled a list of examples. This list is not a list you must pick from, rather it is intended to provide ideas.
